Put on a pair of skates – and a skating button.
Black and white skating pin-back button. Perfect match for any outfit!
The oldest pair of ice skates were found at the bottom of a lake in Europe, and are believed to be from 6000BC. Skating was a good way to get around in winter weather, but it wasn’t seen as a sport at first. Figure skates were created in the 1870s, and it became an Olympic sport in the 1908 games.
Even if you don’t see yourself as an athlete, skating is a good way to keep fit. You can burn over 350 calories with just one hour of casual ice skating!
If you don’t have any snowboard skills, you can at least make a snowboard button – or get a pre-made snowboarding button here. A snowboard pin-back button is a smart gift for the person who loves sliding down the slopes.
Animal button of a dog snowboarding – amazing!
The history of snowboarding is not as old as skiing, but is still really interesting. The first snowboards were made in the 1920s and it quickly rose as a popular sport. The first Olympic event for snowboarding took place in 1998, less than 80 years after its invention.
When you get tired of skiing this winter, or when there isn’t enough snow to go on the slopes, make a ski pin-back button!
Super skills shown on this skiing pin-back button! A ski button can remind you of the slopes even when you’re stuck in school or work.
Did you know that skiing has been around since 6000BC? While it used to be used more for transportation than fun, skiing is a useful way to move around terrain that is difficult to navigate. In the winter we often stay indoors, not exercising or socializing as much, but skiing can be a great way to get moving with friends and family.
Give the skier you know a skiing button – it’s way cheaper than buying some skis! You can even buy a pre-made one here.
A bike button with “Live, Ride, Work” surrounding the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle symbol. Encourage your friends to reduce carbon emissions with this environmental button.
Riding a bike instead of driving helps the environment, and also has a positive impact on your health – great cardio and works out your legs. No more need to use those torture devices in the weight room at the gym or do a bunch of squats!
It’s also a good way to save money – no paying for parking or a bus pass. Depending on your activity level, you might even opt to cancel your gym membership.
What motivates you to ride your bike?
Halloween may be a long time away, but there’s no reason not to have some spooky buttons for the summer!

A tree button showing the sunset. This pin-back button is pretty, and pretty spooky!
Earth Day is Monday April 22nd.
It’s a time for people to think about how what they do (or don’t do) affects the planet, and what changes we can make to improve the lives of everyone and everything on Earth.
This environmental button reads “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you” and shows a hand held up above an image of the Earth, to say ‘Stop!’ This pin-back button is great for Earth Day, or any day!
Get Earth Day buttons and other environmental buttons here or get a button maker and make your own custom buttons.
Spring is starting to come (even though it technically started a couple weeks ago)
